RUNWAY FEVER: Short Stuff

26.2.13

If you aren't following my instagram then you probably don't know that I dyed my beautiful blonde hair to black. I made the decision to keep my wild streak to a minimum. Only because I'm still in the process of looking for a decent paying job. And that would require me to look very corporate like. I will miss the blonde - I already do. I tend to get bored of my hair and like to reinvent myself. This time I'm just regular ole me. Nothing wrong with that. But something inside me screams for change.

So I've been thinking about maybe get a new haircut. My hair is currently uneven since I did shave my hair last year. It has grown out but now one side is shoulder length while the other falls below my breast. I really love my long hair but thi short edgy cut is really cute. I'm thinking my hair would work really well since it's full of volume. But then again I really think I look great with longer hair. And with my face shape I might not pull it off like the pictures below. Decisions, decisions.

What do you think? What should I do?

RUNWAY FEVER: Gypsy

7.11.12

If I you could live one day in my fantasy world this is exactly how you would dress. The more you dress like a gypsy the happier you'll be. Proven fact in my book. (I'm just saying) This editorial was titled "Grand Bazaar". When I think of the word "bazaar" it brings me back to my family vacation to Thailand. There was this local night bazaar that we would attend to every night. It was basically a bunch of vendors selling touristy things, fresh local produce, and fun musical entertainment. Such a memorable experience and eye opening trip. I really do want to go back.

I'm really amazed at how much Asian culture has influenced fashion editorials. It's becoming a norm to see Asian culture and role models in the media now. I'm very proud and love the fact that fashion is moving away from the stereotypes. YES! Besides the asian influence I really enjoy the mixing of the prints. I'm really experimental when it comes to prints. I'm willing to push boundaries. I think the styling was really tasteful. The styling shows that prints are very wearable. Kudos to the stylist!

Runway Fever: Agua Bendita Bikinis

23.3.12

Everything about Agua Bendita makes me want to purchase a bikini right now. The craftsmanship looks amazing. I really haven't seen a bikini look this fun before. The colors are beyond gorgeous and the accessories complement the looks so well. I'm dying! Spent a few hours on the site. I really don't want to go and buy a bikini that everyone has. This might be the perfect bikini designer for me=)

Runway Fever: POC (Pops of Color)

20.2.12

Spring is just starting to bloom. Know what that means??????

 ----COLOR.

So excited to finally be bringing out my bubbly personality including my sunny color palette. To add to my fuel I decided to share with you guys a look book from Spous by Priyo Oktaviano S/S 2011. I love the POC. The set is amazing too. I love all the colorful backgrounds. It seems like they just painted on fabric. Sounds like something I should do for a photoshoot instead of the typical black/white backdrop.  You don't have to go with color blocking because it's trendy right now...
BTW color blocking was sooooo last year.

Runway Fever: Tribal Jewelry - Featuring Kween Of Dreams

11.2.12

Tribal jewelry has been in trend since this past year and has kept its place in Spring/Summer 2012 trends. I'm totally okay with this btw! I jump at anything tribal. The reason - my culture. If you still haven't read my About Me section you'll find out that I am Hmong. What is that you might ask? The Hmong people come from China. No we are not Chinese. We do not have our own country and written language. If you want to find out more just google it=) The Hmong people have traditional outfits that are worn for special occasions.

Here is me(the far right) in an outfit years ago. I was totally skinny and flat chested so this is why I look totally different.

As you can tell our traditional outfits have been an inspiration to the entire tribal jewelry and print trend. At times I feel like I can just wear my traditional Hmong skirt and call it a day. But our clothing is so heavy and precious that I probably wouldn't want to risk damaging it. So there is where my love for tribal jewelry originated from.

Without further ado I present to you KWEEN OF DREAMS!

RUNWAY FEVER: Tight Rope!

27.11.11

Most of the time I wear skirts because I'm not a fan of pants. I don't know why but pants make me feel fat. It's also really hard to find the perfect pair. I think this is a universal issue though. In order to transition into colder weather I usually slip on a pair of tights. I try to have one in every color so that I can always keep warm and still look fashionable. I recently purchased these House of Holland tights from Top Shop!

About 24.00 which you can purchase here. I've always been a fan of House of Holland but never had the money to purchase anything. Simply because when I had the money I would have to pay bills, etc. But I'm so glad I decided to cop these! They are adorable and I get so many compliments when wearing them. Worth my money. The only issue I had with the tights is the color. I thought the tights were a nude color but they are actually a little paler than my skin tone. I can still pull them off but if you are tan then these wouldn't work for you. This would be a really great gift idea for Christmas if your friend, sister, gf, (you know the rest) love collecting tights.

Browsing through the blogging community I came across this brand of tights called Bebaroque. They are a little more on the pricey side but are a great investment for you serious tight shoppers! I love the detail and creative edge of these tights. They seem to be of high quality which is great because you want to get the most of your tights. They range from $40-$600.

These are my favorites:

RUNWAY FEVER: Furry Fiend

26.11.11

I love fur. Faux or not it's fabulous. It's getting colder and time to unload your winter accessories. Time to give the leather and fur a breather. I'm still in love with this jacket I got a few weeks ago. I only worn it once because it hasn't been too cold in NYC lately. It's super warm and furry. The fur sometimes can become irritating though so I try to make sure it's the perfect day before I try to put it on. Don't forget to find something furry for your closet. It's a must have for the season. Please allow me a few minutes to channel my inner Naomi Campbell.

Runway Fever: Nancy Zhang + Adidas 2011

8.7.11

I've been following Nancy's blog since I first started blogging. She's an excellent illustrator and has the cutest style. Her work has been featured in magazines such as Elle and Vogue. Check out her blog The Sea of Fertility. I'm sure you'll love it just like me.

Runway Fever: Bowler hat

3.7.11

Ralph Lauren Spring 2011

A great hat can do wonders for an outfit. On this day I need one last *bling* (as I call it) to complete my look. A couple weeks ago I purchased this bowler hat for a Charlie Chaplin inspired photo shoot. Since it was just laying around I plopped it on my head and wah-la, MAGIC. Every where I went I was constantly getting compliments on this hat. It was so worth the purchase. Totally satisfied. The necklace is actually one from my Claire's video haul.

Runway Fever: Topshop AW 2011

2.7.11

Thanks to my good friend Corn I came across a preview of Topshop's AW 20ll collection. He's actually a visual merchandiser at the New York location so he's constantly keeping everyone updated on Topshop's whereabouts. Love, love, love the styling. I cannot get over the use of patterns and textures. I'm a firm believer that you must own at least five different prints in your closet. Out of the four collections I'm totally in love with the Bavaria. Ridiculously me. Okay kiddos enjoy, don't pee in your pants.

Runway Fever: MADEWELL Summer Look Book + Liu Wen

20.6.11

Liu Wen graces Madewell's Summer 2011 Look Book. I am so content with the representation of Asian cultures in the mass media. It's crazy how much things have changed. I don't think I can walk by any store without seeing at least one Asian model in a campaign. Back to the collection, I love the floor length skirt. That's my favorite piece from the collection. It looks pretty comfortable. Not sure that I'll be tall enough for it =/ To view the complete collection click here.
