Dreaming of Burma

One day as I was scrolling through my Intsagram feed (follow my insta here) I came across an amazing photo that W Magazine posted. It was so captivating that I had to see more. I went to the website and I was taken away by the editorial that British fashion photographer, Tim Walker, shot on a trip to Burma. Last year I wrote a post on the Top 5 Places I'd Like to Visit and I didn't even include Burma but after seeing these images it's now on the bucket list!

I am in love with the mood that the editorial conveys. It's as if it was an ordinary day in Burma and someone just shot a picture. And I cannot forget to mention the styling. I'm not a fan of wearing long sleeves and pants. But the layering of long sleeves and short really gave me new ideas that I want to try. The styling was all-in-all very respectful to the culture. There was also a very beautiful color palette that really complimented the city. The clothing didn't over power the overall editorial and made me really feel like I would be comfortable walking around Burma looking all crazy stylish.

You bet that I'm bookmarking this shoot in my inspiration folder.

xx

I will be dreaming of Burma tonight.

Cornelius Lafayette Danzey Jr. is one of my very close friends and also Top Shop's very own Creative Senior Assistant. To break it down he styles all the mannequins and takes part in the creative process which includes trend forecasting, building stories, etc. I'm so proud of him and I was lucky enough to assist in one of his many glorious photo shoots. He also asked me to shoot a behind-the-scenes video in which I could not say no.

I've always loved film and to be given a chance to shoot something that I'm not in (refer to this video) is pretty damn amazinnggggg. When people ask what I do I always say that I'm an artist because I hate giving myself that one title that sets boundaries. For example if I tell people that I am a fashion stylist the general conclusion would be that I can only style photo shoots, people, etc. I hope that somewhat made sense.

What I really want to do is explore all aspects of art. Why put yourself in a box??? Stretch the limits=)

BK Syle B.A.G Expo + BK Fashion Week

5.3.12

I'm extremely grateful for this opportunity to showcase Kween Of Dreams at the BK Style Beauty Accessories Goodies EXPO on Saturday and Sunday. Come visit and support me my booth!

I came across this opportunity due to my recent involvement with BK Fashion Week{end} as a STYLIST! I feel like the right door has finally opened up and I am able to pursue what I set out to accomplish. This road is not as beautiful and extravagant as it seems but it sounds so good to finally have a title that I can be proud of. This means so much to me because I have worked so hard in the past few months to build contacts and to put myself out there. It is definitely my time to shine. Please stay tuned for more updates on BK Fashion Week.
